World Assembly – Day 4

Today we have discussed good governance. One overarching theme was how the different Bible Societies throughout the entire fellowship had been affected by Covid. Those who had good structures in place managed better than those with a shaky organisation.

In one of the panels, we listened to the General Secretary of the Bible Society of Indonesia. His name is Sigit Triono. I did not know that Indonesia is the fifth largest country in the world. It is the largest Muslim country. Only 10 % of the population are Christians. But since the country is so big, this means a lot of people. The Bible Society has 300 employees. In the printing house many employees are Muslims. I found this very interesting and encouraging. The way many people in Sweden today speak about Muslims without any trust, it is good to understand that a Christian minority in the worlds largest Muslim country have no problem with cooperation.

In the afternoon we had some kind of workshops where we “made headlines”. Every group produced a newspaper headline. In lur group we worked with communication and asked question about digital versus traditional communication but also about accountability. Very creative. A good day where I also had a number of interesting meetings with people from all over the globe.

There is a great gender imbalance at this assembly. In my group we were
five men. Representing Slovakia, Hungary, Sweden and Iceland.
