My wife just phoned and told me that André Brink passed on yesterday. I also read it in
Mail and Guardian. A famous South African novelist and playwright, who wrote in both Afrikaans and English. I remember how his books touched me in 1981-82 when I spent a year in Cape Town. Books like:
An Instant in the Wind
Rumours of Rain
A Dry White Season
A Chain of Voices
We listened to him at the University of Western Cape in 2010. I wrote a
blog post about the occasion. (In Swedish, though!)
He has meant a lot. To many. Also to me.
