A xenophobia-free zone

From a number of sources I learn that the xenophobic attacks have now spread to Pietermaritzburg. One such source is SABC news.

Clint together with one of our students, Chali from Zambia.
Yesterday I was on a radio show that one of my colleagues, Clint Le Bruyns, hosts. Work Matters Radio. We discussed the increasing xenophobic violence, but also more subtle forms of xenophobia.

Together with some other colleagues we are now discussing how to show solidarity with all students who come from other parts of Africa and the rest of the world, for that matter. Maybe a march or a protest action! Before we had decided on a time we learnt that another school has already planned something for tomorrow. Good! It is needed and I am sure that many of the students, who are worried, will appreciate that we as staff, together with Clintstudents say:
UKZN is a xenophobia-free zone.
