Who qualifies to be a blood donor?

In Sweden i used to be a blood donor - when I was a student. After some time my Hb became a little bit too low, so I haven't given blood for many years. I would like to do it again. I believe it is important. Even crucial!

At my university, the University of KwaZulu-Natal, staff and students are given an oppurtunity to donate. Today about 60 persons donated. Wonderful.

Why not donate blood just inside the entrance to the university?

Just like in Sweden all donors get something to eat and drink after donating blood.
